Tummy Tuck Overseas: Is it safe?

Getting a tummy tuck overseas means you will be saving lots of money. If you are eligible for a tummy tuck but do not have the money to finance the procedure, it may be time to look into medical tourism –a relatively old industry that recently experienced a boom in the past few years due to expensive healthcare in the West.

There are a number of medical tourism hotspots one can go to but one of the most popular places for such a procedure is the Dominican Republic. However, one has to take into consideration the risks of flying to a foreign land to go under the knife. Although major hospitals in the Dominican Republic have a good reputation when it comes to lipotourism, there are clinics that just aren’t cut out for the job but offer it anyway. This is the reason why one should go to a reputable medical tourism agency that has a list of clinics and hospitals that perform such procedures based on international standards.

Back in 2005, Dateline NBC reported that a number of lipotourists from the United States came back from the Dominican Republic with life threatening conditions. This of course is something that you wouldn’t want to happen to you so it is best to do your homework first before you set off to Latin America for example to get that makeover you’ve always wanted.

One has to note though that not all clinics abroad will put you at risk of getting infections during the surgery but while most operate under standard procedures, there are some who just perform the surgery as if they are fixing a car.

For more information on the best places to get a safe tummy tuck or other liposuction services, you can go to a reputable agency that promotes medical tourism. Doing your research is a good idea too.
