One wonderful thing about seeking private healthcare abroad is that you get to go to beautiful Asian destinations and still afford the medical treatment you need. Here are the best medical tourism destinations in Asia:

India

A key player in the region’s medical tourism industry, India offers a range of medical services at a fraction of the cost in Europe and the United States.

Statistics show that India welcomes millions of health travelers from around the globe on a yearly basis but unlike its competitors in the region, India does not specialize in a certain niche –it offers a range of healthcare services to international patients –from heart surgery to bone marrow transplants to joint replacement procedures. Two years ago, India already had 10 major hospitals with an accreditation from JCI making the medical tourism hotspot a favorite destination among health travelers. Hong Kong Island

In the year 2006, Hong Kong was already able to provide, over 30, 000 beds both for local and international patients. Offering a wide range of medical services, all 12 of its biggest private hospitals carry accreditation from the UK making Hong Kong a fine choice when looking for affordable private healthcare abroad. One has to note though that Hong Kong does not provide medical services at rates offered by India. However, healthcare rates in this Chinese city is still relatively cheaper compared to healthcare costs in European countries or in the US or Canada. (Photo via chinatourguide.com)

Malaysia

Although Malaysia has not started advertising itself as a medical tourism destination, it has been preparing itself to accommodate millions of medical tourists from around the globe. A popular Asian tourist destination, Malaysia does not only offer scenic beaches and a rich cultural diversity, it also offers affordable medical services as well as less waiting time.  Industry experts say, the cost of medical procedures in Malaysia is approximately 75% less than US costs.

The Philippines

The Philippine Islands offers white beaches, breathtaking mountains and a very rich heritage. Made up of 7, 107 islands, the Philippines is a favorite destination among Europeans and North Americans.

In 2006, the Arroyo administration made medical tourism in the Philippines a national industry resulting to approximately 1 million medical tourists on its shores. The most popular procedures done in the country are cosmetic and dental procedures but the country also offers a range of spa destinations in its countryside. The English-speaking country nation has a strong foundation when in comes to providing healthcare services both to locals and international patients alike.

Singapore

The Singaporean metropolis is deemed as the best in Asia when it comes to providing private healthcare. Although the cost of healthcare in Singapore is not as cheap as that of the Philippines or India, millions of health travelers still flock to the Asian destination because of its high quality medical services and its UK and US trained medical professionals.

If you are looking for cheap private healthcare abroad, these destinations will not disappoint.
